Why Positive Thinking Matters, and How to Make it Work for You!

Sep 11, 2013

Positive thinking can increase our life span, lower depression rates, improve our relationships and even boost our resistance to the common cold.

But why is something that’s obviously good for us so hard to do?

In my own life, I know how difficult it can be to stay positive at times when it feels like the world is falling down around you.

From the highs of getting married to the man of my dreams and bringing a beautiful son into the world to the pain of separation and lows of divorce, I have had plenty of time to test my ability to put mind over matter.

The main thing that I have taken from these experiences – some good, some bad – is that you have to really believe things will get better for them to improve.

You also have to take time for yourself to put these beliefs into action.

So here are my tips for staying positive:

1) Exercise – you get 30 mins away from your own thoughts plus a natural joggers high;

2) Meditation – whether it’s in your yoga class or first thing in the morning taking time to mediate is a must; and

3) Eat healthy – if you want to your mind to smile, you need to feed it with a mix of vitamins and minerals.
